Kenrose Sanctuary
280 acres with 1+1/2 miles of trail through beautiful old and young woodlands, as farmland reverts to forest. On Bridge Road off Bradt Hollow Road in Berne, most easily reached from State Route 443 in West Berne or County Route 9 in Berne. Parts of the trail are hilly and can be soggy underfoot. You'll enjoy the plant and animal wildlife with views down into Bradt Hollow. |

Hilltown History

"The land at this site, which was at the western boundary of Van Rensselaer Manor, was settled in the 18th century. Farms in this area raised grains, potatoes, hops, and hay for horses that worked on the Erie Canal. While many neighboring farms were abandoned early in the 1900s, some cultivation continued at Kenrose into the 1950s." From the Nature Conservancy.
