John Boyd Thacher State Park
While most of Thacher Park is in the town of New Scotland, it extends into Berne and Knox, as well as Guilderland. Situated along the Helderberg Escarpment, the park offers year-round recreational activities and breath-taking views of the Mohawk-Hudson Valley, the Green Mountains of Vermont, and the Adirondacks. Birthplace of American Palentology
In the 1830s, the Helderberg Escarpment drew international geologists who studied the exposed strata and rich array of marine fossils.
